Overhang on the roof, how much is enough?

Designing the roof for an outdoor build. How much overhang are people running past the walls to keep rain off the cladding and the door?

I went 12 inches on the door side and 8 on the others. Keeps the glass and the cladding a lot drier. The door side overhang especially is worth it.

More on the gable end where the door is. Nothing worse than rain dripping right onto the threshold.
