Same. I ran conduit to make it cheaper, electrician landed the terminations and pulled the permit. Best of both.

Even if you can run the cable, the inspection sign off matters for insurance. I did the easy demo work and let a licensed guy do the connections.

Hire it out. This is high current in a damp environment and a permit and inspection are usually required. The cost of an electrician is nothing next to the risk.
